This Elf on the Shelf idea is super easy for those nights you just don't have time to come up with an elaborate scenario. If your elf's hands are still connected, you'll have to snip them apart to make a "snow" angel. Just pour some granulated sugar on the floor or counter and then swipe your elf's arms and legs in an arc to create the angel shape.
